Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She was among the youngest and the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Shield she has had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live and to be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star on the Indian sitar. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982 and began her life by hopping to London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. Later she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. While she's still young Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. She has performed with her father in the stage for a long time. The singer has released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't restricted to just the music industry. In 2002 she published a book entitled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising superstar and her fame will keep on growing. Anoushka shankar is an English born singer who travelled her childhood in London, Delhi and California. When she was 9 She began studying music with her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience touring around the globe along with the father. She performed at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship within music and the Asian Arts.
